booking flights to africa

hi

does anybody know how to get good deals on plane tickets to africa?

just got permission from my work to have the month october of and the plans are to go to kenya for 2 weeks and then 2 weeks south africa.
had a look online but the only flights i could find from uk to kenya are £100 more than when we fligh straight to joburg.

and flighing from kenya to afrika again is £120 more then when we first fly to rwanda and then from there to joburg.

is there a webpage that can compare those things or so or is there anybody that does have any experience with this we don't even mind that we don't fligh from uk but from somewhere else is that makes a big differents.

  • Have you tried travel supermarket?

Maybe if you detailed the flights you want exactly people could help you more, you've mentioned a few places in your post so it's unclear exactly what flights you want. Post where you can fly from, some UK airports are cheaper than others

When we were booking our flights to Africa we wanted to fly into Nairobi (Kenya) and out of Cape Town (SA) and the flight prices were ridiculous - I think about £1500 each.
The travel agent told us that for some reason, flying into Nairobi was what was making it expensive (not sure why??)

We were lucky in that we had enough frequent flyer points to use for our flight to Nairobi with BA and then bought a one-way ticket out of Cape Town.

Our situation was slightly complicated that we wanted to continue from Cape Town on a one-way flight to Australia.

Perhaps look at buying a return to SA and then an internal return to Kenya?
Otherwise try either kayak or ITA software for different prices on your itinery.
  • thanks for the replys

we want to go to kenya en south africa joburg.

we did plan to go from uk to kenya (flight 1)
then from kenya to joburg (flight 2)
and then from joburg to uk (flight 3)

it teh things i can find is that to kenya seem to only fligh from heatrow (might be other once but i cant find them)

but we can fligh from all uk airports and we are not even stuck to going to kenya first if easyer we can go to south africa first and then to kenya and then back to uk.

even if it is cheaper we could leave easy from holland and belguim and even france would not be a big problem.

but just seam to be able to find flights from uk so maybe somebody does know some websites where we can find the posiblity to find those things easy instead of searching for every possiblity there is sepperate.

Call Trailfinders. Web sites are not very good for finding flights with stopovers, so you need to talk to a travel agent.

You might well be able to save a lot of money by sticking to one country for this trip. And both South Africa and Kenya offer plenty to keep you busy for several weeks.

I've done some searching for you and here is what I have found.

(Note - I've looked from London as that is the most popular, for other starting points you would have to check).

    LON-NBO-JNB-LON £1870pp return with Virgin/Kenayan/SA airways

    LON-JNB-NBO-LON £1125 with BA

LON-JNB return £311 with Afriqiyah Airways via Libya
or £456 with KLM via Europe (paris/amsterdam)
then an internal flight JNB-NBO return is £350 withe Kenyan.

    Hope that helps.

Well, only took me a couple of secs - About £530 inc tax, on Kenya Airlines.
    LHR-NBO 01 Oct
    NBO-JNB 14 Oct
    JNB-NBO-LHR 28 Oct

Many other days available. Same airline all the way through = saves money.
