hi,
i recieved a phonecall from consumeradviceuk informing me that i could claim my ppi charges back on my welcome finance loan and ppi on my hp car from British Credit Trust which i have had for around 4 years.
they told me that if i was to pay them 199.00 up front they would arrange this for me and would refund it if i didnt claim. this sounds very dodgy to me. she told me that companys offering to do this for free were illegal ???
whats the best way to go about claiming these charges?
thanks

Hi there,
I would be very careful here if I were you.;)
I would not go for anyone who charges these upfront costs and I hear loads of complaints about these claims companies.
If you do this from help on this site with templates, this is all free apart from a few stamps etc.
I don't think I've heard of them myself, but maybe others have and will have something to say on these, but despite that personally I would not bother.
For more help all free on PPI reclaiming with templates, check this link here below:

Good luck.

I've done it for free and I am certainly not operating illegally. Perhaps this company has never heard of IFAs.
If they are spouting out rubbish like that to get you to sign up and pay then what other misinformation are they telling you and also telling the companies you are making the complaints to.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Hi there.
Is your loan still active?
If so then you can reclaim is mis sold for any reason the PPI you have paid and the interest etc.
If settled then you reclaim the full PPI, the interest and request for the extra 8% of what a court would award.
For whatever reasons you have, write to them, and they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
You may need to write to them again, if they give you the opportunity to do so, keep at them until you receive the final response, and then if eligible they will also enclose the details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can then take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome of your complaint.
Post by recorded delivery - as this would be your proof of posting.
