  • I had that as well, lying scumbag said to me your meter has property of Hydro Electric on it and only they can supply your electricity now as the law has been changed. I laughed at him and said if you are not away from here by the time I pick up the phone and phone the police I will tell them I caught you breaking into my garage. Now !!!! off you lying !!!!!!!.

Hi there, sorry to jump in on a slightly diiferent tack, but I am having a similar thing at the moment. How do you find out who is responsible for the meter, Mine is 45 years old - seriously, house was built in 1964, original stickers and seals on it! Contacted npower asking when it was due renewal and how long the calibration was guaranteed correct, They said "Your meter operator will be in touch when meter is due" HELP !
The Meter Operator appointed by your supplier is responsible for ensuring you have a certified meter. Once a meter has pass the 'end date' it can be recertified so you could have a 40 year old meter but these days it cheaper in most cases to fit a new one rather than recertifiy the old one. I would phone my supplier, get them to check that the serial number they have on record matches yours and then ask them for the 'Certification Date' and 'Certification Expiry Date'. These are two pieces of data they are told by the meter operator and will allow you/them to see if the meter has either been recertified (and not relabelled) or missed. If it is the latter ask them to arrange for the MO to come a change the meter as soon as possible. Ultimately it is there responsibility to ensure the MO changes ll the meter that are due to be changed.

  • Cheers JD87 + SPIRO. Found out the MO is YEDL, sent them a message asking when and for how long the certification lasts. Time to wait and see what happens...........
