Car MOT with flat spare tyre

I once put my car in for an MOT and one of the tyres was illegal, so the tester just swapped it for the spare and passed it. I don't think the spare counts as part of the MOT.

Recently mot'd my renault put the spare wheel on as i was concerned about the tred on one tyre, i received an advisory just to say that i had one steel and three alloys and that was at a council garage as recommended passed no problems.

Hi, I am an MOT tester. I can confirm that spare tyres are not part of the examination and therefor not checked.

Also some of the latest BMW's don't even carry a spare, as they are fitted with run-flat tyres

thanks for all that, i asume I wouldnt need it done but decided to get it sorted later today just incase im the unlucky one whe gets his checked.

i was always under the impression that it was ok not to have one but if you did have one it had to be legal - if it were me i would take it out before you go - however you should really get it fixed so you dont run the rish of gettin a flat with no spare

but its advisable to carry a legal spare though!
