Hi Millie...great to see that you've started a new diary.
I totally agree that time spent with family is very important as you never know what's around the corner.Work/life balance is very hard to get right.
You have done great clearing what you have so far and I'm absolutely certain you will reach all your goals as planning is the key.
Please ignore the ignorant poster. What you spend on holidays or anything else in life is entirely up to you...posters like that crop up every now and again so don't worry about it.

Why do you insist on taking such an interest in my posts CJ? and where did I say my kids would be deprived by not going on 2 foreign holidays a year? who says I always take my kids abroad?

You seem to get perverse enjoyment twisting information from my posts, if it makes absolutely no difference to you what I do with my life then why do you seem intent on searching out information from my posts so you can make sarcastic responses to?

Go crawl back into your hole

If I want to take my children on holiday then I will, if I want to get further into debt then yes I will, I may just then decide to go bankrupt aswell so you the taxpayer can foot the bill, then decide to swan off to Oz for a few months, what the hell, why not?

i agree with taxi, some people are just not worth listening to or even replying to. You sound as if you have made serious progress and that shouldn't be knocked or belittled by others, on these boards we all know how hard it often is to overpay even by £1 so my hat is off to anyone who is able to overpay by the amounts you are talking about. Keep going and show then what you are made of.

I think your idea of taking the new job short term to balance the books and allow a different lifestyle in the future is very sensible.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress.

Let's get you onto page 2 of this diary.

    Best wishes,

Who do you think you are posting this on my diary?

Firstly, every month we are overpaying the minimums on our debts by at least £500

The holidays are for our kids and have not been paid for by adding to the debt, they have been paid for outright, I don't believe our kids should suffer because we have got into debt over the years.

We never go out anywhere, don't drink or smoke and our holidays are our only luxury now, why do you think it is an expensive holiday? we are going to France and it has cost us £400

The debt we have is going to take us a few years to pay off, during that time I am NOT prepared to cut every other form of spending so that we have no life and our children have no life, I am NOT putting their lives on hold for the next few years. We are fortunate that we earn enough to have over £2500 disposable income each month, the highest proportion of this goes to pay our debts, the rest goes on making our lives worth living. If I choose to spend some of that on a holiday a couple of times a year to spend the time with my children so that means it takes slightly longer to pay off my debts then that is my business, not yours, I did not ask for people's opinion on this

We have good jobs, work hard and earn good money, we have paid off £30k worth of debt over the last year and have not added to it, I don't call that little progress

This is not the first time you have attaked me on this forum and I don't understand why you have such a personal issue with me

This is my diary where I have not asked for advice therefore I don't understand why you have come on here offering it

OMG Millie have only just logged in and didn't see the nasty posts. Next time don't give them the satsisfaction of a reply. Completely and uterly juvenile. You don't have to justify your actions. I am in debt, (which I will tot up when I back from my holiday - burying head in sand I know), but we are going on holiday soon for the first time in 3 years. For the same reason as yours - the kids.

Anyway KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !

    Hi Millie

Just wanted to say good luck to you on this thread! Best wishes on your journey and hope you don't let others' thoughtless comments deter you. I also have a holiday booked in a couple of months - and plan to enjoy it - despite my debt busting plans.

Well done on getting to where you've got to already... and look forward to hearing further progress.
