British Gas Electric Bill Problem

After over a year in the property we have had a bill through for over £5K for electricity.

On the bill there are estimated readings other than one recently at the start of July 2009.

The bill starts in Feb 2008 with a reading of 363285 E
Theres a few dates inbetween with the highest reading being 370823 E
The final bill date is July 2009 a reading of 350310 M

We took a reading yesterday and its 350328

We actually didnt enter the property until June 2008 but have misplaced the reading we took at the start.

Where do we stand on getting the bill corrected? As you can see the actual reading they have done last month is lower than the first reading at the top of the bill that was estimated!

All advice appreciated - what is the best line of attack? Hopefully we will find the meter reading we took at the start as extra evidence.
