HBOS Incomplete List of Charges Received

Hello!

I recently completed Step 1 of the Bank Charges Reclaiming process as outlined on the website. I sent a letter to HBOS on 1st July 2009 requesting a list of charges from 27th July 2001 until 1st July 2009.

They responded with a bundle of statements from 24th June 2003 - 1st July 2009. There is no mention in the letter accompanying their response about why they decided not to include statements from 27th July 2001 - 23rd June 2003.

Am I entitled to receive these statements from HBOS? I believe there may be significant charges in the omitted period. It may also be worth noting that I am live in Scotland and this bank account was opened at a BOS branch in Scotland.

Yes, as long as you made a DPA Subject Access Request along with the £10 fee, which entitles you to all data (not just statements) from when you opened the a/c

I think I know why that might be.

Last night, I phoned HSBC to get statements going back to 2000. They told me that they could not go back any further than 6 years, to August 2003.

I'm assuming you applied in June? In which case, that'd explain why they sent them only from June 2003 onwards.

I was not convinced when I was told this. Therefore, I phoned the same number and waited to be put through to someone again - hoping it'd be someone different. Sure enough, it was.

She told me that the statements available went back to this time in 2001, which just shows that they either lie because they know it's to do with reclaiming, or just don't know their computer systems. I'm still not convinced there's no way I can obtain them from prior to 2001.

Therefore, I'd say it's worth writing off to a few different departments, and phoning around. Don't tell them you've already made enquiries. Let them contradict one another.

Thanks for the responses, I'll contact HBOS again to request the all of the charges from 27th July 2001.
