Jet2 Booking Form

I recently booked a flight for my brother on Jet2. Above booking form it says to enter name as on Passport in bold and it also says middle names not required. I did this and included my brother's middle name as it is on his passport. I submitted the form which was accepted but it only transferred the middle name and not the surname to the booking. Jet2 will change the name but want to charge £30 plus 3% for paying with a debit card and 5% for paying with a credit card. I am really annoyed as I think the info I input should be transferred in full or an error msg should have been displayed. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with Jet2 or any other airline? I have written a letter of complaint but I am waiting for a reply. I was told that I could pay in cash at the check-in desk and not pay the debit card charge but won't take the risk.

I assume the reservations systems can only take a limited number of characters and, therefore, 'cut off' anything once that limit is reached, seemingly without notifying you. I do find the situation is unfortunate and the charge seems unfair, but it does imply that middle names shouldn't be included. Incidentally, did you put the middle name in the first or surname box?
