Hi
Does anyone out there use an ironing press? Do they really save much time?
Many thanks, Daise

I've been using a press for years (on my second one now as the original eventually burnt out). I wouldn't go back to an ordinary iron ever!
The take a bit of getting used to but if you persevere you will find them quicker and less tiring (you can plonk it on a table and sit down while you iron and they also require much less effort with your arm).
Just be careful you don't accidentally shut the b***** thing down on your hand if you are watching TV while you iron - I've had a couple of very nasty burns when I was engrossed in 24 while ironing shirts!ELITE 5:2

I run a ironing service and have got presses that we never use because they are too time consuming. Steam generator irons are the way to go tbh I swear by them I would never ever use a press or a normal iron. If you want more information just ask me

Pardon me for being so ignorant, Steph, but what's the difference between steam generator irons and normal irons? Do they just produce more steam?Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

LOL it's ok
Basically a steam generator iron produces more steam per minute at a higher temperature than standard irons also with standard irons the water is filled on top of the iron so you are then also holding the weight of the iron and the water. Instead a steam generator iron has a base where the water goes in it makes it into steam which then comes along a thick flex into the bottom of the iron. They do give a better finish and get the ironing done quicker.

Hm, they sound interesting...How much are they to buy and do you have a pic of it, is it bulky? Sorry for so many questions.

It's ok, They range in price tbh argos sell them from £100 up to £250 obviously the £250 ones are alot better but for doing domestic ironing a £100 one will be really good http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?pp=20&s=Price%3A+Low+-+High&storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001801&langId=-1&q=STEAM+GENERATOR+IRON&x=8&y=8
Thats all the steam generator irons argos do.
They are slightly bulky but if your ironing board has a try to put the iron on put the base of the generator on that and away you go
I've got use to lifting them so it doesn't really bother me. But they do get very hot so don't move it until it's cold again.
I don't really recommend the steam generator irons with the anti calc bags because you have to keep replacing them all the time and they aren't cheap.
If you have any more questions just give me a shout and I'll do my best to answer them.
this is the one we use http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4101912/Trail/searchtext%3ESTEAM+GENERATOR+IRON.htm
But we do iron atleast 200-300 items per day with it
