love these chat rooms but need some goooood advice
basically out of work few weeks, debts mounting up letters through the door dmp done but being ignored by creditors..i am renting from H/A and wanted a move on medical reasons..Dr sent 2 letters, letters sent from Womens aid and a councilor i have to see on a weekly basis...letter through the door says i am 55th on the waiting list and 3 medical points awarded. if i wasn't suicidal b4 i am now...i tried to make a new life for my son and i but it's not going to plan.. i'm sitting here crying my eyes out feeling like i need a drink its a long story..also got a letter from bank to call them immediatley but i don't think i can cope and a letter from DCA saying they are going to start court proceedings

Where do you live. 55th on the list isnt actully that bad round here I have to say, matter of weeks rather than months.

It seems as if you have gone through all the right channels on increasing your points, so well done on that xx

I stay on the west coast of scotland..moved here from Coventry 6 1/2 yrs and 55th is not good here it could take 4/5 years

Have you registered with Homeswap?

Its bareyl worth doing in london, but I think better up north. Run by the housing corp, you trade flats with someone else ( HA only) . Might not get you the result you need, but worth a stab?

Hi Tina,

Try not to panic, it won't make the situation any better. I know its easier said than done but maybe if you rang the bank just to see what they say, to stop you worrying about that. I feel it's always better to be the one making the phone call that being on the back foot if they ring you. You can explain them your situation and they may or may not be helpful (past experience, may be the latter) Don't agree to anything and just see what they have to say. Only when you know all the facts can you sit down and assess the situation. Big hugs to you and I hope your situation will become more positive soon.

Its getting hard to get a house anywhere as the council are selling of their stock. good luck and try to stay possitive.

Firstly, DON'T panic. You'll get loads of advice, support and hugs here!

Re. the housing issue, are you just on your Housing Association's list or are you on the Common Housing Register? Being on the CHR means that you can be housed by any of the participating local HAs or by the council, which in short, means you are likely to get a new house more quickly. The link below leads you to Scotland's CHR website [there's an email address at the bottom of the page for more info]. Check with your HA whether they are part of the CHR...

Re. life not going plan, don't worry – I don't think anyone's does! My advice is to take control of the areas you can, and try not to stress about the areas you can't control!

It IS worth talking to your bank – don't do it over the phone where you'll be just a name and number to them. Set up a meeting with them to talk to them in person. Appeal to their 'human' sides and see if you can sort out getting interest payments frozen on credit cards/loans/whatever. Remember the important thing here is your health and not some **** at the end of a phone in the bank!

Also, we would be better able to advise if you could post an SOA here – Statement of Affairs listing all your incomings [income/tax credits/benefits etc], all your outgoings [food/rent/petrol etc] and all your debts and their APRs if you know them...

From that, we'll be able to see where you can make savings/cutbacks and offer advice on which debts to pay off first. You may be surprised!!!

Why do you need to move?

Try not to have a drink. If you are suffering from depression (which it sounds like you are), it will make things worse not better and you will feel worse.

I hope things improve for you x

Long story but i will try to shorten it the best way i can

ok Hubby died in 1997, met a gr8 guy in '99 moved to west coast scotland with my son then aged 10..to be with him..he bought a house and we all lived happily..gr8 guy turned into control freak 3 yrs down the line but had to put up as had no-where to go and didn't want to go home with tail between legs and son was now in 2ndry school..(this is when the drinking started)
put up with him for a while longer then spoke to friend who is a nurse, she told me about womens aid..stayed with them for 4 months then i got this flat (jumped the queue as i was on homeless list)
was working p/t as !!!!!! manager in retail so dss wouldn't give me a grant so i took on a credit card with tsb.to purchase essentials.was paying it all on time then due to stress and nerves gave up work..now in a situation..
want to move as the place i stay has lots of parties going on all weekend and plenty of fights..few weeks ago a lassie up the stairs (preg with twins) was attacked in her own home by 4 people with a gun, samari and chinese stix(forget the name) got the wrong house as the lassie who lived there b4 had moved out a month b4(druggie)the stairwell was a bloodbath as the neighbours joined in the comotion...and just a week b4 xmas someone kicked my door open and my son was in and the guy stood in the hallway and said sorry mate wrong house....The H/A knows about all this as does my DR and councilor who have tried to help get me moved..Drink to sleep and wear earplugs which is no good as i couldn't hear if my door got put through..take a hammer to bed with me. my nerves are shattered which causes numbness all over my body from time to time i can litterally cut myself shaving my legs and i wouldn't feel a thing
