A colleague of mine has just signed up to the Virgin PC Guard. He said he signed up for the complete package, but as soon as he did he's no being hit with wave after wave of pop-up's.....even when IE isn't open!
Sounds like spyware to me, can anyone suggest a good spyware cleaner, either free or subscription.
Also, can anoyone recommend a complete suite for anti-virus, spyware etc??

malwarebytes is good to get rid of things for free. But for more permanent protection I use AVG free0

combination of avg, malwarebytes and windows defender is the healthiest option.
oh and switch to firefox, it contains a lot less pop ups from what ive experienced0 -
Make sure pop up blocker is on Tools/pop up blocker/turn on
Avira free edition
Malwarebytes free edition
Superantispyware free0 -
PC Guard is Powered by Kaspersky so unless it's a cut down version or some such, I'd suggest the PC was already infected, prior to installation.Move along, nothing to see.0

download malwarebytes, install, update and run a quick scan, remove anything it find and post log file here.
download hijackthis, run scan + log and post log here.
My brother uses the same PC Guard and never gets any popups, so as spud17 said it was problably infected before he installed it, aka what sites was he visiting whilst he was downloading it.
only take 2 secs for spyware infection.0 -
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0
