eon save online introduced when?
Its useful to log into this forum every so often to keep up to date on my energy supplier and its constant changes, just found out about save online which appears to provide a better discount to my current product, energy online extra saver v14.
Does anybody know when this product was introduced?
It appears to show a slightly higher gas tariff 3.40725 v 3.30855 (v14) but the online discount is 9.3% v 5.8% so should work out cheaper. My current usage is 27000KWH (gas) / 4040 (electric) which gives around a 30 pounds saving in a year, not much but as a well known shop says every little helps!
I wish eon would email their customers when new products are released, it would help these constant searches.

Hi mvan
The new Save Online tariff was introduced on 5 August 2009. It was available on our website and on broker sites from this date.
Feedback has told us a majority of our customers don't want emails every time changes take place. Many see it as a form of pressure selling.
Also, what may suit one customer may not be relevant to another and this can cause annoyance or confusion if sent to the wrong person.
However, we do try and keep customers updated through our website as soon as tariffs are released.
Hope this helps. Give me a shout if you need more details.

I wanted to check my bill and verify the tariff but I can't find the tariff anywhere on Eon's site. All the switching services seem to expect you to enter general data and don't display tariffs. I googled and probed for over 3/4 of an hour looking for the current Saveonline tariff but couldn't find it anywhere, either on Eon's site or elsewhere. As this is not price protected it should be displayed clearly on Eons site else how can customers check what tariff they are on. You can't look at the latest bill since that shows the historic tariffs.
I really don't accept the above statement that customers don't want emails advising of the latest tariffs. Surely this is precisely the sort of factual information we require to be updated with. How it can be interpreted as pressure selling is beyond me. Selling is sending weekly newsletters of new product offerings not 1 or 2 emails per year detailing the basis of charging for current products.
If a customer doesn't want the information he/she can just ignore it or file it away for possible future reference.
Come on Eon, please credit your customers with more intelligence. Where can I find the tariff?0 -
Re-reading this I may have misunderstood the original question and answer regarding the nature of the emails mentioned. Apologies to Malc for this. However I still would like to be informed by email when my tariff changes. Does Eon do this? How else can I check tariff changes?0

Hi rustleg
Our Saveonline tariff has recently been withdrawn from sale. This is why you will not see it either on our general website or the comparison sites.
Customers registered with our website and already on Saveonline will still be able to view details of the tariff online, though. They can do this by clicking on the Switch Now button at the bottom of the Your Account page.
Full details of the product will then be shown at the top of the next page displayed. Listed below, will be all the other E.ON tariffs currently available. This information is updated each time a tariff is either withdrawn or added.
Sorry rustleg, but there are currently no plans to send emails to customers each time a tariff is added/withdrawn. However, customers on tariffs with end dates (like Saveonline) will be notified by letter before the product actually ends.
Hope this clears up any confusion but give me a shout if you need any more info; will be happy to help.
