Halifax and me...

Hi,

Ok to cut a very long story short, I attempted to reclaim my bank charges back under the Financial Harship rules, I sent away the letter ( thank you for the template!) After a few weeks I got the standard issue reply, however they did accept i was in finincial hardship, I was given the number for the "Money management" team whom i rung and explained the situation again she agreed that I wasn't overspending etc and that I was again in financial hardship, this was last week.

I've been bugging them this week and today I was told they have sent a letter in the post , which states that they do accept i am in finicial difficulty but due to the impending court decicion all they can offer at the moment is a hold for 3 months on any further charges.

The money that i was claiming would have enabled me to clear off the overdraft and start a fresh without any further charges, so that's not what i needed/ wanted.

My question is: What should I do now?

Thanks for reading

Maxine

If not being charged even 1p for the next 3 months will help you then accept it since it will allow you time to be able to manage your money without having to manage it with charges. It is a result of sorts for you.

It won't help as I've already moved my DD etc to another account to enable me to manage without all the charges.

The money would have enabled me to pay the debt i'm in with the gas/electric / overdraft thus i would have been able to get out of financial harship.

But i'm not sure if i should write to the bank again or go to the YOS?

I think you mean FOS but you need a final response on Financial Hardship from the bank. If you can argue that their reasoning is wrong(and since you might be using another account, will be more difficult) then the FOS may take a different view. However if you simply say to them, I am in hardship and this is what the bank did then it's an easy decision to make. They will agree with the bank.
