V Festival Tickets - How do I check next time

My son is currently distraught because he has just found out that the website his friend bought his ticket from was a fake (vfestival.net instead of vfestival.com) and he won't be going this year after all.
Him and 5 friends each paid £165 for the tickets and they were looking forward to it sooo much, I really feel for him.
The tickets were bought on a mastercard for a total of £990, so I think they will get their money back eventually, but unfortunately not in time to go this weekend.
How can they make sure next time that when they buy gig/festival tickets that they are genuine. I know that gig tickets is a favourite for internet scammers and want to give him some advice for the future. Apparently the fake website looked exactly like the real thing
thanks

I do feel so sorry for him, Hazell - I know that lots of people fell for that scam as it was very realistic-looking.
I always get my V tickets from See tickets - you can't get them directly from the V Fest organisers, so make sure he's aware of that for next year. The poor lad!0 -
Easiest way is to go the event's official website (search for the event itself, not the event tickets), and follow their links, or they will tell who is selling genuine tickets.
And if the officially recommended ones are sold out? Then the event is sold out. If you find another website selling tickets, you haven't got loophole, you've got a scam.0 -
Thanks. It would have been his first festival - he and his friends are all 17. He's been to a few gigs before but he was really looking forward to this. I didn't know you couldn't get the tickets from the organisers0

There are still a few tickets for Weston Park available, if you use a coach service - if he can scrape the money together. I'd avoid ebay though!
Also - I've seen a few tickets for sale on the forums at efestivals.com...0 -
Ebay's ok, as long as you check the tickets are "in hand" meaning the seller actually has them. I've just sold my spare 2 on there. It's best to pay via paypal then you can put the money on hold until tickets are received. Always check the offical website, there's always a list of approved suppliers. Feel so sorry for him, it's an awful thing to have happen to you.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

Yeah, I've sold on spare tickets on there before - I was just thinking about overbidding in the heat of the moment - I heard today that one of my friends' kids bought a pair for £600! That's just madness!

The V Festival organisers made a big effort this year to make sure they listed the genuine ticket sellers, and made it very clear that any other sites were fake.
ALWAYS go to the genuine website first, and follow the links to the genuine ticket sellers. http://www.vfestival.com/ticketsShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Just to let you know scarletmist.com is a legit ticket site that sells tickets to gigs/festies at face value, so your son won't get ripped off (and hey have v festival tickets!)This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
