Dis-used Mine Entry

Just received the mining search back,the search reveals that the property is within the likely zone of influence on the surface from seven seams of coal at 190-430m in depth,last worked in 1967.
The coal authority state that in their opinion ground movement from these have now ceased.
It also states that there is a mine entry within 20 metres of the property,(its actual location is directly opposite front of the house,across the road, on the pavement)
The road is a main road,it contains a lot of residential properties all grouped around the area of the mine entrance.It is actually located in the entrance to the public library, council offices and police station.
My solicitor has stated that although I have my official mortgage offer from my lender ( a condition of the loan is that I have insurance for movement and subsidence as the house is 110 years old and the surveyer said although movement had occured it was very longstanding and had ceased and was purely historical) they have been informed of the mine entry and this could cause them to reconsider the offer.
What I would like to know is have any of you had experience of this and what advice could you offer.Thanks in advance.

  • should just add that I have been asked to pay for further searches and opinions from the Coal Board, my solictor says that they will be necessary.I asked about what usually happens and she said that lots of people pull out as thay wont take the risk.I just dont know what to do I love the house and no one else who lives on the road seems worried.Property prices dont seem lower than others locallly.But I dont want to throw more money away on searches to lead to nowhere.
