14 panels fence plus boards £800??

Hi

Is this an okay quote or could I better it (Birmingham based)

Quoted £800 for putting up 14 panels of fence, posts and gravel boards plus removal of old stuff.

I'd say no, too expensive. B&Q do 6 foot panels for around £15 each.

If it's larch lap panels it's steep.

If it's a good quality close board then it's probably not so far off.

Check if they intent to use spikes or concrete in the posts.

Also it's quite a good idea to have it screwed together rather than nailed, if that doesn't add much to the price.

I can get decent quality fence panels for £12.00 from builders merchants and posts for about a fiver,add in concrete(if that's what's being done,i wouldn't have metal spikes) and cost of a skip,comes to about £350.00 ish,more if they are better quality panels and if the posts are concrete(unlikely) so it is fairish depending on materials but certainly on the high side of fair.Make sure the posts are well sunk.Two feet for a six foot panel,so the posts need to be eight foot.
