Hi
I'm wonderinf if anyone can help me. My father parked his car in Asda car park and went shopping as usual this was back on the 17th June 2009. He then went shopping and then went home. A month later he received a "fine" in the post saying that he had a fine for parking on the date but not what the "offence" was and that he owed the PPC - Town and City Parking - £75 reduced to £50 if he paid within 14 days. He has written back to them requesting what "offence" he has committed in their eyes but has not paid the money yet. He says there was never any ticket put onto his car.
Can anyone advise if this is legitimate or not and if he has to pay as he is a pensioner and cannot really afford to pay the fine.
Thanks

There are so many threads here on this subject, have a search and you will see that he should just ignore and not contact them again. Pity he admitted being the driver but the advice still applies. No normal private parking company will allow an appeal, not when there's a chance of squeezing money out of someone.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

... Or, just read Martin's latest weekly email: "Don't Pay Private Parking Fines!"
(actually, they are not fines at all, but let's not get into semantics again)
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
Ignore it and don't get into any further contact with them.0

Thanks to everyone who has replied - As yet he hasn't had a reply from the company but when he gets one I will tell him to ignore them.0
