netgear DG834G. What is wrong?

Options
i have set a netgear DG834G to the main pc, although it says i'm connected to the internet i can not access it firefox says can't establish connection to server  . i have checked ADSL link to the server and thats ok. On netgear web site it says something about checking the WAN IP address by lauching the browser but i can't launch the browser, also don't know if this is anything to do with it but on internet option, properties, always dial my default connection is checked is this right. At the moment i'm back with the old modem have XP and the router is or was a wired connection. I'm not very techincal so if anyone can help in simple terms i would be very greatful.

It should be "never dial a connection" I know that bit for you!

08701121206 but I think I found this other number on saynoto0870 and it got me through 01344 397021

You will need the serial number etc off the router

    thanks

i changed the connection setting to never dial a connection, plugged the router back in and (fingers crossed) it seems to be working. But will keep hold of the numbers for now just in case.

  • You have fixed the problem. :)

Routers do not "dial" they are always connected. Just make sure that it is set as your default and this should not happen to you again.
