seem have a nasy virus/trojan.....help

Hi - I hope there is someone out there who can help. Last night my PC desktop was blank & no matter how many times \i rebooted windows (vista) would not load. I successfully booted in safe mode & ran SAS which found Rootkit.cloaked/service-gen in 2 places windows\system32 & in the registry. However it was not ticked & had a little yellow triangle on it. I ticked it and asked SAS to remove it but it just came back. I ran malwarebytes & this didn't find anything. I tried to google it & found advice to format my hard drive & reinstall windows......but this was quite old advice and wondered if anybody could help before I take this drastic step.

Suggest you try and run HijackThis and post the log and wait for a techie to analyze it for you. Do not do anything other than scan and post.
