Just wondering, what is the going rate for an electrician to completely isolate wiring in a two floor house to the downstairs floor and have upstairs re-wired to a new electricity connection? consequently creating two flats.
Thanks
Thanks

That will depend on the current wiring. For example in my house there are 2 lighting and 2 socket curcuits (excluding cooker and immersion heater feeds) which supply one floor each, therefore it would be a simple matter to disconnect the upstairs curcuits and rewire them to an upstairs fuse box. You also have to consider the age of the existing wiring which may require a complete rewire to bring it up to date. One of the biggest bills will be getting the 2nd feed into the property.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

The only way to find out how much it will cost is to get a few local electricians to have a look at the job. Most will give a free estimate and a beter idea of how much it will cost than anyone on this site can, then you pick the one that you want. Dont forget to mention any extras you might want (new kitchens/bathrooms etc)
If you are splitting the house into 2 flats you'll need to arrange for a seperate supply to the house and an additional meter....same for gas as well if used.0 -
Thanks, will contact an electrician to come and have a look within the next few days.
Little curious though, where its being broke in to 2 flats how the electrical wires would be routed as to ensure the other flat cannot tap in to the others supply.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
