Aircon or open window? Fuel cost

Ive got a Peugeot 307 1.4 16v with aircon.Because it is a small engine for size of car-when i put a/c on it seems to really take away the power and reduce 0-60 time. The car runs much better without it, so i never have it on.......Neil0

Don't forget you need to run the Air Con for a bit, at least every fortnight all year round. That is, if you don't want an expensive repair bill later, or a drop in value when you come to sell it on, and the potential buyer finds it ceased and not working!.
Since you need to run it now and again anyway, I would have thought that this current weather (and with 32c being forcast next week) would have been a perfect opportunity to get the benefit!.
I don't see much of a difference in fuel consumption, either in my wallet or on the Cars computer, on a 2ltr diesel with the air con on.In addition, if something is being driven from the battery, where do you think the power comes from that recharges the battery? The voltage pixies?
And running the heater fan on full blast takes anywhere between 7 and 15 amps too, and has zero cooling effect on the air!.0
