Glasgow Parking, any advice?

Hi.
An employee of mine was using my van for business and his own transport and whilst using it for his own purposes managed to rack up 9 parking tickets in short succession in Glasgow city centre ( my firm does not do any work in the city, he just lives there) and did not tell me. Basically he was parking wherever he liked and wasn't giving a !!!!.
When I received notice of 9 tickets I called Glasgow Parking who advised me to get a written statement from the person responsible which I did and submitted to them.
I thought that was that and forgot about it until sheriffs officers visited my mother's house (last known address) a year later looking for $560.00
I was in the middle of a divorce so have moved house 3 times and didn't receive any letters.
After much discussions and more letters from me they decided to pursue the guy who signed the admission but were "unsuccessful in obtaining payment" and are now pursuing me for the money as the registered vehicle owner.
Incidentally I'd sacked this guy so obviously can't speak with him now.
This is !!!!!!!! as I'm not the guilty party here and completely refuse to pay.
Any advice on what I can do to prevent a riot when the sheriffs visit me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Peter.
