    Dolly Victorian doors etc were originally always painted - it only became fashionable to strip them in the 80s just as it was fashionable to board them up in the 60s. Floorboards would generally have been covered with rugs, with just the edges painted - with good reason - floorboards can be very drafty!

    Glad I asked for advice, could you imagine if I'd just soldiered ahead?
    This yukky floor has to come up, will cross that bridge later.
    Plaster is going to stay firmly on my walls.
