Tomatos - how big do I let the plants get

  • After boasting a couple of weeks ago that I had gren tomatoes, I now have brown tomatoes. I think the ones in the ground just got too wet as it rained all but one day in July. My neighbour had the same problem with hers. the plants that are in the gro bags and were not watered last week while I was away still seem ok. So I am crossing fingers now.

Hi there- I've had the same problem with my outdoor cherry tomatoes and believe that it's down to lack of water. My inside tomatoes have done best this year. When the tomatoes are forming, they need lots of regular watering- much more than at any other time.

I have checked on google for tomato blight and that looks like what they have. I dug them up and chucked them. The ones at the other end of the garden look ok. I did go to see if I could buy some fungicide for the ones that are ok at the moment, but it was £5.99 and i don't think the value of my tomatoes is that much. So I am just going to hope for the best. I hope yours will be ok.
