Hi all!
I am claiming in the region of £5400 inc interest from HSBC, I have sent them the initial complaint and then the financial hardship claim. They sent me an income and expenditure form back together with the phone number, I am on a DMP with the CCCS for debts of £16k.
Anyway, I ring this number 0845 600 6423 and am hold for 10mins and get told that as my account is closed I need to call this number 0800 0232430 another 10 mins goes by when I get told that as the account is closed I cannot claim financial hardship and thats that! I explained that this is incorrect and the bank has to look at my situation as directed by the FSA.
It was 17:59 and HSBC ended my call as they finish at 6pm!
Where next? Help Please!

Is your account with them closed?
When was it closed?
Do you have a bank account with another bank now?0 -
the account with them is closed.
It was closed after the initial complaint requesting the charges returned.
I bank with natwest now0 -

That is why they have said no. Whilst the account might have been causing you financial hardship 9 months ago, it isn't causing you financial hardship today because the account is closed. Are there any charges on the NatWest account?
At the moment, financial hardship claims would be based on accounts that are open and are continuing to incur further charges today meaning that essential outgoings or priority debts are not being met.0 -
!!!!!!! I'm scrimping and saving to pay the DMP each month and a imminent wedding and new arrival it would help!
Is there any other ways round it, and how long is this OFT case gonna go on for?0 -
Financial hardship unfortunately is not a loophole but a terrible situation which some people have to live in which they may skip meals because they simply cannot afford to buy food for 3 square meals.mrwexpress wrote: »!!!!!!!
