Internet connection and proxy settings?

Trying to install some software and up comes "Cannot connect to the update server. Please check your internet connection and proxy settings." Help! What do I do.?

Guessing you have a firewall blocking that application access to net (assuming your internet is working since you posted on there)0

Have disabled the firewall and get the same response.0

its very rare, that a programme uses a port other than 80 to update through the web unless its a game, you need to setup port forwarding, im sure you can find the port online that the programme uses.
I could talk you how to open up all ports but, thats not particularly safe!0
