Just read this thread...at least you're close and you can't help it if your phone died. Imagine how you'd be thinking if you didn't get a phone, worrying about missing a call about a job. Stop being so tough on yourself and look at what you have acheived. I reckon a pat on the back is in order! Best of luck on the job front.

Thanks LJD1. Although I probably could have helped my phine dying if I hadn't split my (lidl!) vodka on it.

My mood is not helped by getting 2 job rejections. Was overjoyed at 10am when I heard I'd got through to a second round interview - not until July though, so a long wait. Then 2 'no thanks' letters came in... Found 2 more to apply for, but it's all exhausting!! and makes you feel so bad about yourself.

At least I have something left at the end of the month. I just won't be able to put as much away as I wanted. Although when facing the prospect of unemployment, I'm not sure having twenty quid here or there makes such a big difference when faced with mortgage etc. Oh well.

One thing this site really has done is take some of the fear away. I would *love* to get a well paid job doing something I love. But now I know I have alternatives to selling my house if I end up working somewhere I don't love for minimum wage.

It's the uncertainty that's a killer! I think I need stress management. At least b/f has got himself off to apply for jobs too. He doesn't live with me, but if one of us is sorted, I'll feel better.

Gosh, I went on a bit there.

I think I will have to do a stricter plan for next month.. with proper menu planners. I have a week to work it out, and I should be able to do it on buttons as I'm a veggie.

    Sorry for the ramble!!

I read a really interesting article recently people were asked to rate themsleves for how lucky they thought (or possibly others thought????) they were. Then given a list of 100 surnames and asked to count how many people they knew with those names. People who thought they were luckiest had most ticks. Conclusion - you make your own luck by networking.

I was determined to follow this advice. Stayed in car rather than going with OH for 5 mins - missed a BIG opportunity and have been kicking myself ever since. Will learn from it though.

Emmzi - you are really good at this, am sure luck is on its way! How is it going - have you starved yet?

:j :j :j :j woo hoo, it's working!!!! Met a woman I used to work with a few weeks ago, instead of saying hello I actually stopped for a chat. DS had also worked with her last year (which made me feel v old!!!!). I'd mentioned he was taking a year off uni (he's 'tired out' poor soul:rolleyes: ) and would be looking for a job - she phoned tonight to say they're looking for temp staff for a few months. By the time he'd got his act together and found out about it the closing date would have passed so the networking is def working!!!!

    Take heart Emmzi!

Keep your spirits up! You have done so well. think of the positives rather than the negatives (so easy to say, so hard to do). You are better off than you would have been had you not been doing this challenge. You HAD to buy another phone! And lets face it, did you not think long and hard about it before you did it. A couple of months ago I would have signed up for a 10 year contract just to get the latest phone. Now I am on PAYG! Talk about change of lifestyle!

Try hard not to feel rejected (the jobs were not for you and something better will come up) I am a firm believer in that EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

As for me, I am having a couple of up and down weeks, we had the prom last week and this week I am waiting to hear if my ex boss has filed a defence against my claim for sex discrimination etc. I also hear he's planning on skipping the country. Its so hard not to get down, I am soooo tired and all I want to do is stay in bed for a week, but I have to get up go to work and then come home and do freelance! The good news is that it is pay day for me this week and I can pay my first store card off (Laura Ashley!) not a big balance (£114) but high interest and I feel it will be a psychological positive to do it. I am also hoping to pay off my next account by the end of the month too. That will be 2 down (only 14 more to go!!!!!)

Keep your spirits up girl. Two steps forward and 1 step back but you get there in the end.

Emmzi I think you are doing well, you are doing better for trying than not trying. I am going to be most likely off target for the end of June by about £100 but at least I'll be in £2,900 less debt.
Next time remember alcohol and mobile phones don't mix, sadly on drunken nights out the stupid things either end up nicking your drink or going swimming in the toilet.

Thanks Sammy and BH. Things seem less gloomy this morning -I was gutted last night!

I just need to keep reminding myself that once the debt is paid, and only mortgage left, it'llbe somuch less stressful getting jobs to keep me afloat. I can earn *half* what I need to now. That's going to be so nice!!!

I was tempted to go and look at sofas today but you have encouraged me not to :) Thanks.

Sammy - good luck with former boss. Will be watching impatiently.

    BH - £2900? Wow, that's pretty impressive!

Listed bundle of kids videos on ebay today.. not sure if they will make much, but it'd be nice to have the shelf space back!!
Its free to list them on Amazon so why not put any unsold tapes on there. There is no need to prepare listings, just put in the barcode number and Amazon does the rest.

Thanks Chell - my reservation with Amazon is about setting the price - with so many vidoes for sale never sure where to pitch it!- and some people have said the P&P allowance they give you doesn't always cover the cost, especially for heavy tapes. However if they don't go, I might try a couple on there to see.

If not, it must be boot sale time. I have a huge pile of other boot sale stuff to go, just waiting for a sunny day when b/f is around to help me keep an eye on things!!
