i have recently put in a claim with halifax for £6700 in charges.3 days after putting in the claim they have cut my overdraft by £1300.i am claiming under the financial hardship route i had a £2000 overdraft which i was living in.i had my wages paid in every month which would just about clear the overdraft then when everything was paid i would be back upto the limit.the thing is if they take this extra £1300 of me i would be realy in the**** and really putting me in financial hardship.i rang them and there not open to any other offers so i have 2 choices. they reduce the overdraft and i have to miss mortgage and loan payments for the month or close the account and move all my direct debits to a new account leaving me owing halifax £2000 but will it harm my claim for charges and will they keep slaming more charges on me.obviously my credit rating is shot so that is not a problem.thanks

Definately option 2.
No it wont harm your claim for charges.
You can tell the bank your account is in dispute ref your charges claim and could they freeze interest and charges on the debt while its sorted out, also you can offer an affordable monthly repayment off the debt which will help stave off hassle from any DCA etc they feel like passing it (wrongly) on to.LegalBeagles0
