    Hi Dallas,

It's great that you don't have to buy absolutely everything for the new house. My mum got me a double duvet recently from Tesco and it was super cheap, about 8 quid if I remember rightly.

Didn't know that music magpie will collect. Do they have to be good (i.e. vaguely popular) CDs? I can imagine the driver rocking up at my parents' house, taking one look at my old CD collection and driving off again in disgust!

Moving in with two boys . Let's hope they're house-trained!

Hi Snow White - I'm not sure about Music Magpie yet, but you input the barcode from the CD and they give you a quote for that particular one. Probably quite time consuming if you've got a lot of CDs but well worth it when the cheque comes through I reckon!

I have the Tefal four-in-one slow cooker/ rice cooker/ steamer. Not cheap (tho they appear on eBay regularly) but very practical when you don't have a lot of cupboard space! There is a massive slow cooker thread on the Old Style board with loads of recipes.

Feeling very virtuous this evening! Have just put some books up for sale on Green Metropolis for the first time and also traded some unwanted CDs and DVDs on Music Magpie. Hopefully my books will sell as I don't want to lug them to the new flat!
Claire - thanks for the quidco tip!
Knitty and Fire Fox - great advice on slow cookers, thanks for that - I'll check the thread!

    Hi All,

Just made a positive step and registered us for council tax from 1st September which is our move in date. I wasn't sure of the figure before, so now that I know the bill I've done an SOA including estimates for electricity, water and internet as I won't know for sure until I set up the new accounts.
Obviously this is my new budget from September so I'm hoping to keep any bills down, and will be getting my hands on a showersmart, a hippo or save a flush, energy saving lightbulbs and lots of jumpers so hopefully not a huge heating bill!
I'd like to keep my grocery bill down under £100 but food is really my thing, and I enjoy it so much that I think I might hit that each month. My mobile is pretty low and I'm on a good contract with 3 which suits me down to the ground and I don't exceed the limits.

Just can't wait for my credit card to be at £0!!!
