Shoppers Discount.co.uk [Merchant ID No. 0636] update

hi all, I wrote yesterday regarding the mystery Merchant ID No: < 0636 > which was showing an authorised debit of £10 on my Visa account.

This unauthorised debit was placed by the company <Shoppers Discount.co.uk> .

Just Google the above and you wlll find loads of complaints about unauthorised debits made to peoples' accounts and is classified as a SCAM.

ADVICE: Be aware of Shoppers Discount.co. uk as their web page somtimes comes up when you make a purchase with a legit merchant when the two are linked and your card details are made available to Shoppers Discount, as you may /or not have inadvertently entered something [i.e. like your email address] on the Shoppers Discount.co.uk webpage. It is easy to do, nothing is stated clearly on their site that Shoppers Discount will make debits of £10 per month from your Visa account, this could happen even if you don't fill in anything if the two are linked!

***I got through to Shoppers Discount's telephone number : 0808-234-1539 where you will be asked by an automated voice for your whole Visa card no. details, just don't give them this number, just hang on till you speak with a representive of theirs and good luck with any refund!

I found it easier to close my Visa Card number and ask for a new Visa Card number from the same card provided and tell them about Shoppers Discount underhand methods.

From what i remember of ShoppersDiscount, it was on Easyjet or rail ticket sites gave you an option if you want to save 10% on your fare by signing up for one of these services.

Have you ordered anything similar recently that would give you such a discount? I doubt very highly merchants would give your card details to a company for them to process payment. It's something the user would have initiated, not knowing the stipulation of ShoppersDiscount

...I have contacted the vendor today that I had purchased from and it was said Shoppers Discount is linked with their site and I have only to enter my email address on the Shoppers Discount website for my card details to be provided to them! So there you are, it does happen.

Needless to say, I won't be purchasing from that company again or any other merchant that has links with Shoppers Discount.

If you are aiming for a refund from Shoppers Discount, one tip would be to email them on :

***customerservices@shoppersdiscountsand rewards.co.uk***

to confirm that you request cancellation of your registration with them. This email will go to provide evidence to your Visa card supplier if any further months debits are made to your Visa account from Shoppers Discount, which you can send onto your Visa supplier, after 30 days have expired, of sending that email to Shoppers Discount.
Your Visa supplier will then challenge Shoppers Discount and with any luck that should be the end of it, with no more debits placed on your account from Shoppers Discount.

Hi all,
I also just noticed I had been paying shopersdicountand rewards £10 for months for nothing in return and was very worried.
I called the number suggested and It was answered by a very helpful lady in kent who also revealed even more shockingly that I had also joined an identical scheme called mytimerewards and had paid out even more!!
£120 in total

However she was very helpful in reimbursing me the last 3 transcations of each instantly, then sending me cancellation confirmations by email as i was on the phone, I followed the links, filled in the forms for the further amounts (with the help of a 2nd call to fill in the gaps) I faxed them off and I have been assured - and I do believe, that I will be reimbursed the total amount within the next dew days

I shall definitely repost if this does not happen,

The moral is to be careful what you sign up to , to check your credit card payments and to ring these people up - Its not a criminal scam it seems, just a clever scheme which will can be reversed if you contact them.
