Hello Viking
thanks for the visa debit card infor as i would much rather use that than anything else. however, due to the fact that online car rental only give the option of credit card bookings which can make it difficult to hire if you have visa debit cards.
anyway will try your tactic next time. i like the idea.
Mark
121carhire is simply cartrawler with their face upside down !!! same company - different names to fool customers ...
Thanks all0 -

Hi everyone
has anyone ever used Cartrawler or 121carhire through moneysupermarket.com. they are the same company.just got back from swiss holiday in early august 09 and the broker/agent was Cartrawler and guess what
- i was charged more than what i had been informed or agreed online
- Cartrawler took 2 direct debits from my account for car insurance and late pickup fee coz we got into swiss airport at 11.30pm. i agreed online to the total rental cost which was paid to Europcars but not the other two direct debits.
However those costs have been written on the Europecar receipt I received. I asked Europcars and Europcars says its all to do with Cartrawler. On my account statement, it points to Cartrawler. Cartrawler says all complaints are emailed which is crap as I need to write.
Can anyone give me a clue on Cartrawler address in the UK ??

Emails sent but not answered
Aug 3rd 2009
I had made a booking on the 26th October 2008 for a Cabriolet car to be pick up at Faro Airport Portugal on the 18th July 2009, on arrival at the pickup point I was told that firstly the car order had been cancelled. I then contacted yourselves and inquiries where made resulting in no car being available from your selected car hire company.
After some two hours and receiving no help I had to hire a car on the spot market at a cost of £1030.30.
I had received confirmation from Cartrawler that a car of my choice was going to be available I had prepaid £643.77 an a additional insurance of £66.22.
I am now seeking the return of my moneys, as you can see from the above I am also out of pocket this is compounded also by this holiday was a planned anniversary and planned well in advance only to be left stranded at Faro Airport.
Warning Note my advice is to stay well away from having anything to do with Cartrawler, they are a joke, as you can see from above I am still trying for a refund however they do not respond to e mails of in fact will not put you through to a person who they claim is dealing with your inquiry. My own personnel experience is now to claim from the credit card company using section 75 a good tip from this site..0 -
Hi,
I wouldn't be sending emails .... send it recorded delivery .... so you have evidence for any court action ...

I have used Cartrawler many times through Moneysupermarket, without problem, hiring from Belfast int apt.
Recently they sent me a final invoice which added a ridiculous amount for filling up with fuel. I got through to their invoicing and told them I was supposed to leave the car back empty. (unusual circumstances. Normally it needs to be full)
They checked with Europcar and agreed to refund. They refunded the overcharge within a few days. (They had run out of small cars so, I had to have an upgrade to a brand new Mondeo Diesel which was almost empty. They had no diesel on site)
But I was annoyed with Europcar for not passing on the info to invoicing. I could easily not have spotted the overcharge.0 -

Hello,
Just to add to the thread on 121carhire.
About 15 minutes ago I hired a car for pickup at Dublin airport through their website. Several times I was offered insurance to cover the excess on the insurance provided by the hire company (madness). I declined this option. Once the process was complete, I received an email from questor insurance services limited thanking me for taking out insurance with them to cover the excess on the car.
It was only £13 but I am very annoyed about this. I will complain to 121carhire. I have naturally cancelled the policy since I did not want it and did not order it.
Just a heads up - make sure you are getting what you expected with these guys. Be eagle eyed!
