Long story short:
Ordered a washing machine for delivery 21st August - total cost for washing machine, delivery, installation and scrappage £313.94.
Received email next day confirming delivery 1st September - no explanation for not delivering 21st August. My old one had died a death and was a bit disappointed about delayed delivery, so contacted local dealer who had a new machine installed within 2 hours and old one taken away. A bit more expensive but worth the extra for efficient, friendly service.
Cancelled Comet order.
Received an invoice from Comet yesterday for £337.89 - price of washing machine £10 more, plus charged for delivery £14.94. So I'd authorised £313.94 and they'd taken £337.89.
Phoned Comet and they've confirmed that £337.89 was charged to my card, but now it's been refunded. Not that it really matters as I'd already cancelled the order, but there was no explanation of how a confirmed order had increased in price without even advising it would be more than the amount agreed.
Makes my local supplier seem like a bargain!
Lesson - will never ever order from Comet again.
