HSBC CC 0% balance transfer

I got one of these cards a few months ago (0% for 9 months.before they reduced it to 6 months)...........

I have now sent 2 direct debit forms back to them ....first around beginning of March and the other a couple of weeks ago (although they had received the first per Royal Mail...they never actioned it.....)...they have also received the second...........still nothing set up on my current account.......

Is this one of their 'practices'? In the hope that you will not check whether or not the DD has been set up and they can take charges when you miss a payment?

I am seriously considering moving the debt to another card again as they are beginning to p**s me off!

I transferred to their 0% earlier in the year (NYrs day I think) and have had no problem, but I think some of those who applied later were caught by the avalanche from here lol! I did see some people say there were delays.

  • Same here, is there anyway to pay onto this credit card other than the poxy HSBC minimum payment or full balance options? i.e send a payment from by bank account to this card?

I think I am one of those lucky ones. I applied at our local branch 2 weeks ago after reading previous threads on this site got instant decison and card appears after 4 days. So no complaints at all.

Yes, not as good as the reducing 3 percent payment taken by direct debit, but you can easily set up a standing order from your bank on this (or and other credit card) in only 5 mins.

-Set the payment level at 3 percent (in this case) of the amount transferred.
-Set payments at least one week before the due date.
-Set the end date to the last month at 0%
-Remember that you have to pay off the balance separately at the end, of course.

I've done this with MBNA Alliance & Leicester where it works particulary well since the first payment was £40 (£5 plus fee) and subsequent payments are level at £5. I find the drag of setting up DDs and having to make an initial payment anyway -because of the time it requires- makes considering alternatives worthwhile.
