Gas fire and surround

Hi
We have just bought a house which has two gas fires one in the sitting room and one in the dining room (they back on to each other). We aren't fans of gas fires and what to get rid of them. I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of cost so that we don't get ripped off when we get them removed.
One of the fires and it's surround was fitted less then a year ago i believe, i was also wondering if there would be any legs in trying to sell it, or if someone CORGI registered would be willing to do the work and take that fire in part or full payment.
If it would be helpful i can post some pictures.

Thanks in advance for any help
