WEP, WPA and O2 broadband security

Have just installed O2 broadband on my new laptop using the installation disc provided by O2. Since planning to use the wireless connection the setup allowed me to set up WEP security. The laptop works perfectly using the wireless connection. Reading through the booklet supplied with the wireless modem box it says i can change the wireless security to WPA by following certain steps on O2 website. It did warn that in WPA security mode the laptop internet connection will not work if it has Vista software installed. So i followed the steps and lost the wireless connection. It will not let me connect wirelessly. So i had to plug the cable in (between laptop and modem) and change the security setting back to WEP. The laptop now works perfectly in wireless mode.
Could anyone tell me why i cannot set the security to WPA. As far as i know WPA is more secure than WEP. It offers different version of WPA security, which is the best one? As far as i can remember there is WPA, WPA-2, WPA-PSK or something similar.
Any advice
Thanks in advance to those who replied

-PreSharedKey it what you need. You will also need to enter into your router configuration in order to make note of the key O2 has supplied to you.
You can do so by going to http://o2wirelessbox.lan/ > Home Network > WLAN > Configure..
You'll need to enter that key when you wish to connect wirelessly.0 -
So long as the drivers for your wireless hardware support WPA there is no reason why it will not work with Vista - I use an O2Box2 with WPA encryption and my laptop runs Vista although I mostly use it wired.
There was no need to use the CD to setup the router. I recall hearing that it installs all sorts of "helper" junk that causes problems. I just accessed the router with http://192.168.1.254 using userid SuperUser and password O2Br0ad64nd and did the configuratuion manually which despite the klunky web interface is pretty straightforward.0 -
