Gas Heating Help....

Moving into a place with gas for the first time.

Was there today, in one cupboard theres a box type thing with an on/off switch, reset switch and amber and red lights , and an electrical switch beside it.

In another cupboard, there's a huge boiler with what looks like a red mini boiler above it, featuring what looks like a pressure gauge.

In a cupboard below the sink, theres the gas meter.

On the wall in the kitchen theres a little control box with buttons such as "hot water advance" and "heating advance".

I started off trying the hot water advance button to on, no hot water.

I checked the first cupboard, and it was switched to on but with no lights on it, sticker below suggests on/off should be green and a little amber light too.

Tried turning that all off and switching on again, including the electrical switch, no joy.

Any thoughts ?

Hydro confirmed the gas hasnt been switched off at their end and the meter has gone up half a unit since the last resident left, there were workmen in painting and doing carpets so I guess they used hot water cleaning brushes etc.

Depending upon the boiler then you might need to ignite the pilot light.
