My friend has found some OLD 10p and 5p coins whilst clearing out her grandmother's home. Both of these have been out of circulation around the early 90s. There is about £2-3 in coins
Are they legal tender? What is the best way of getting rid of them? My friend's grandmother thinks she can spend them in shops. I'm thinking no.
I had a look at them and cannot believe how heavy the old 10p coin is. Is heavier than the £2 but a similar size.

If you are not worried about actually being able to spend the money why don't you take it to a charity shop. They will take the coins for youWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Car boot sale, charity shop.
there are actually some machines/pool tables etc that are privatley owned that still take the old 10p's!0 -
I believe you can take them to your bank and pay them into your account. Shops don't have to take them, but they are still legal tender, I think.0

Shops won't take them.
Try your bank, failing that Bank of England.
