Harmonising oak furniture

Hi all,
I have an old [probably 1930s] sideboard that I have painstakingly taken down to bare wood. I want to prepare it for use, but the grain and colour of the oak vary on the many timber pieces making up the unit.
It is very pale in finish and I don't want it coloured too much with stain.
Can anyone advise me of how to stain it to bring the pieces to a uniform shade before varnishing.
Are there particular products I can buy to do this?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Trying to match the colour of different pieces of wood is a bit of a black art to do well because it is a case of building up the colour from other individual colours and you need the "eye".
If you have spent all that time stripping off the old finish then I would personally just apply whatever finiish you wish and accept that there will be variations.
Not the answer you probably wanted. Sorry :-(well-medicated wrote: »Hi all,
