I saw this on the BBC web site, it is very imformative about returning goods, for whatever reason and what your rights are regarding doing so:

Thanks, I bought (off all things!) a toilet brush from Tesco for £6, it wouldn't fasten together properly and they wouldn't give me a refund as i had no receipt. they wouldn't replace it as they no longer stock the item (probably due to the manufactering fault). I had had it a couple of weeks until i took it out of the packaging which was just plastic stuff that i no longer had so no barcode etc. they were quite rude too!0

Thats a useful link thanks
I couldnt find any info about returning items which arent faulty.
I have a wrapped dvd plus receipt which details the exact product which i tried to return as i have it already.
The shop (music zone ) refused to offer a refund just an exchange or credit note and said it was their policy to do this. It does actually say this on the back of the receipt to be fair but who reads that??
Any ideas whether this is lawful?
Or am i selling it on ebay? :-/0 -
If goods aren't faulty they don't have to do anythingBulletproof0

That seems unfair considering you would have to actually make a purchase to see it. :-/0 -

Tesco are such tight g!t$! Excuse my language!
Same thing happened to me re a bracelet I bought. One of the gems had come off. It said 'Florence and Fred' but they refused to give me a refund. I emailed tesco.com and they said they were entitled to ask for proof of purchase like bank statement. Well I emailed them back saying how could a £57 bill be seen as proof of purchase. I havent heard from them since, but will be emailing them and getting my refund. Humph!!!0
