Halifax paid standing orders after I had previously cancelled on-line

Hi all. Thanks for the threads. Just to confirm a few other things.
I cancelled the standing orders at 4:30pm on Friday. And..
the online software confirmed that the pending payments had been cancelled (sure wish i did screenshots of this though!! Will do in future). and there was no longer any pending payment amounts showing to the organisations after I cancelled them when previously there was before i cancelled them.
Oh and one more thing. Isn't saturday classed as a banking day now? My DD's have certainly come out of my bank on a Saturday before.0 -
the reason direct debits show on a Saturday and the same with credits is that they are reflecting the transactions which are occuring the following Monday. As for the comment above surrounding HBOS alloqing to cancel upto the day a standing order is paid this IS wrong, the standing order payments most of them go FP and they go FP at around 2 to 3am. They cannot be cancelled that day as the funds have already left the account and could have been spent by the beneficiary therefore the 2 working day limit is in place.0

If you read the previous responses (and I assume your comment is primarily directed at me), no one has stated you can cancel outgoing payments on the date they leave.
I stated you can cancel right up until the night before the payment is due off. Which has been established as only true for Telephone Banking.
Online Banking requires payments to be cancelled or amended one working day before they are due off. I quoted the Halifax website, so I can't see where you are getting this "2 working day limit" - unless you are an ill-informed member of staff?
Incase anyone missed it the first time, a qoute from the Halifax website in regards to Moving Money Online:-Please ensure you make any amendments or deletions at least 1 working day before the payment is due so the changes have time to take effect.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
It does. Spot on. And 4.30pm on a Friday to first thing on a Monday morning does not have a working day between it.If you read the quote above from the Halifax website it specifically says one working day is required for amendments or deletions to take effect when using Online Banking.
Dig out your statements. They will show the date as the following Monday. Your online banking forward dated the transactions.Oh and one more thing. Isn't saturday classed as a banking day now? My DD's have certainly come out of my bank on a Saturday before.0
