in IVA & DRO
Aww no - just 'googled' my name out of curiosity and there I was - listed under the court that my IVA was agreed in... feel sick that it gives out my full name and address ... managed to come this far without telling family members- think I'm going to have to now as they will find it also as they are regular users of the internet.
Does anyone know if I could get my address removed?

No idea, but I would not worry about it. Why should anyone want to do a search on your name? Most people I would think have their regular sites they visit, and shopping sites, ebay, research etc. I've had a leaflet come through from an IVA company offering to sort out my debt situation, and they got my name from court records showing when I took out my present IVA, so it is obviously something that comes under the Freedom of Information Act and as such probably can't be hidden. Suggest you just brazen it out. The only way anyone would know you had an IVA would be by doing what you did, or if you chose to tell them. If anyone does mention it, you don't have to explain anything, it is your business. Just say (if you feel inclined to) that you got into financial difficulties and have chosen to sort it out by means of an IVA and leave it at that. One life - your life - live it!0

Checklist: DisadvantagesIn most cases you are locked into making monthly payments for five years.IVAs are recorded on a publicly available register.
Although you should be able to keep your house, you may have to release a significant
share of your equity –either at the start or towards the end of the IVA.
You will be expected to give up any endowment linked to your mortgage and hand
over savings.
If you do not keep to the terms of the IVA your creditors can make you bankrupt and
you'll lose everything anyway and will have paid £1,000s to do so.
If your income improves during the period of the IVA your monthly payments will normally
increase to reflect the extra amount, and you must declare and contribute any
windfalls, inheritances or bonuses you receive.
You cannot take out any more unsecured credit while the IVA is in force.

You will find that bankruptcies are reported publicly in your local paper so there is even more chance of getting found out with that course of action! Whatever means someone chooses to solve their debt situation, there will be advantages and disadvantages to consider. I have heard people say that going bankrupt was the best thing they did, others say "Thank God for IVAs!" and others swear by their debt management plans. As I said previously, it is really no-one's business but the debtor, so who cares if anyone finds out? At least, whatever method is being used, the debtor is trying to sort things out.One life - your life - live it!0 -
That was not a criticism, by the way, Proverbs31 - just pointing out that no method of debt solving is perfect! At least those of us in debt win brownie points for trying! One life - your life - live it!0
