Changing banks whilst on JSA

Hello,
I'm currently on JSA and have just got a new bank account, how do I go about changing over my account details so that my JSA payments are paid into the new account rather than the old one? Also how long does it take and do I have to do it in the jobcentre or via their phone service?
I searched through the official website but it didn't explain anything, perhaps I was looking in the wrong place.
Thank you in advance.

You have to phone them. They will either take the new details over the phone or send you a simple form to fill in and send back. If they have your new details about 5 days before your payment is due to be sent, the records will have been updated and the JSA will go into your new account.0

Thank you both, I shall call them this afternoon and get it changed. If only they had actually stated that on the website somewhere in the FAQ's I wouldn't have had to bother anyone! :rotfl:

I disagree. They should not clutter the site or FAQ with such an unnecessary question.0

It's not technically possible to do it by phone - the signature needs to be checked against the speciment given when you made your original claim. Some areas will do it, some won't. I wouldn't.
You need a form known as a DPGEN, and your Jobcentre should give you this. Once it's complete, the system can be updated in about 30 seconds.0 -
Some will do it by phone. They did when I changed mine over. Just had to answer security questions to prove it was me. Also, if you can do it by phone, they'll tell you if it's in time or not, as they have to let you know where your money is going to be** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.
