If he had a bell on his bike it might have saved me having broken a bone in my blummin' foot grr ouch!

Oh dear! Sounds painful!
When i was a child i was run over by a man on his bike riding on the pavement! I broke my wrist and suffered with bad cuts on my face. He had the nerve to have ago at me (i was only 8 years old!) My Mum soon put him right though! She hit him with her handbag and called him some rather amusing names!!

Wow good for your mom!
Walking along the towpath on Saturday, we'd decided to do about 10 miles but it was cut to about 5. Kinda spoilt my day there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Is it not a legal requirement that cyclist's have bells on their bikes? If not, from my own experience it should be! I often walk my dogs on a canal path and 99% of cyclists do have bells and will ring them just before passing. I have no problems standing to oneside to let them past, plus they normally thank you as they pass! But there's always the odd one, glad in lycra zooming up and nearly running me and dogs over! Blooming plonkers!!

To be honest I leave my dogs off the leads now when we're on the canal path, it's much safer. Those cyclists wing past like they're in a race - it's scary.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Heh, I am a cyclist but I agree with you - some people cycle way too fast on pavements and shared paths. I cycle along a very narrow cycle path to my mum's hosue at weekends, and always slow down when another cyclist is approaching - just wish they would do the same, and not try and force me into the hedge!

If Barney fell in I don't think I'd be strong enough to pull him out, he must weigh four or five stone. I think I'd rather I fell in.
It's a shared path, we should all respect each other?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Since a couple of years ago all new bikes have to be sold with a bell. The man without a signature.0 -
Our old Park Keeper used to have a cure for cyclist's that insisted on riding in the park, he carried a sturdy walking stick that he would push in to their rear wheels ..
Harsh enforcement, but it seemed to work.:rotfl: 0 -

There's no requirement to keep them on though - I took mine off.
I'm thinking of putting it on again though, as my polite "excuse me, please" requests don't seem to have an effect.0
