Electric meter question

Our electricity meter is currently showing 99916 and will hit 99999 before the end of the current quarter. Does it automatically zero and start again or should I let someone know about the situation ?

We did have a letter in early March advising that the meter would be changed but on the appointed day we had four inches + of snow and nobody turned up.
