So what tariff will I be on after that then?

I have worked out that SaveOnline Standing Charge will be the best tariff for me if I decide to stay with Eon, in fact going by comparison sites there is only about £20 saving if I was to change to EDF but I wouldn't get my Tesco points.

    Hi Jen

If you haven't contacted us before 1 October 2009 we will put you on to our standard rates. A letter will be sent advising of this before the product ends.

You can change to any of our other tariffs before Energy Saver 2 runs out without being charged a cancellation fee. This includes the Save Online (Standing Charge) tariff if this is better for you.

Save Online also awards Tesco Clubcard points. This product does not have a cancellation charge.

Please be aware, we do not give discount on final bills when changing supplier.

You are doing exactly the right thing in using a comparison site to see how we stack up.

    Hope this helps. :)

Well the tariff I am on now has a 9% discount and the Save Online (Standing Charge) tariff has a 18.1% discount so the new tariff, because of this discount, works out cheaper over the year than my present tariff, so back to my spreadsheet to see if it would be worthwhile swapping before 1st Oct. Or do you have an idea if it would be to save my poor brain?

    Hi Jen

Difficult to say accurately as it depends on how much gas and electric you use between now and the end of Energy Saver 2.

To give you a rough idea, I have done a quick calculation based on the usage posted on another thread.

Assuming you changed tariff tomorrow I have compared how much you will spend in the 44 days remaining on Energy Saver 2 with the cost of Saver Online (both with and without Standing Charges) over the same period.

Approx daily usage (based on your annual figures) is 12 kWh electric and 49 kWh gas. Over 44 days this works out at 528 kWh electric and 2156 kWh gas.

On Energy Saver 2 this works out at £121.66 before VAT (£127.74 with VAT).

Over the same period on Saver Online (without Standing Charges) the cost will be £119.26 before VAT (£125.23 with VAT).

The Standing Charge version works out at £119.18 before VAT (£125.14 with VAT).

These estimates include the relevant discount for each tariff.

Given the time of year, I doubt very much you are using these amounts of energy particularly gas. Therefore, please treat these figures with caution. They are intended as a guide only.

Hope this rough calculation helps. :)

Hi Malc thanks for that. Electric is about right, gas is half that but at least your figures confirm what I found out.

I am cheaper with a standing charge tariff by a whopping 9p:D

How long does it take to change tariffs or is it instantaneous since I am staying with Eon?

No problem Jen. Glad to help. :)

Changing tariffs can be done very quickly and easily. Either give us a call and the agent will do it whilst you are on the phone; or you can switch through our website.

Whichever way, the change goes through straight away and has immediate effect.

I changed earlier just in case they pull the best tariffs. MY thought is they may anticipate more people waiting to change on or after the 1st Oct rather than now. As it`s summer and I`m not using much gas and a bit less electric than normal I thought it would be prudent to change now.I just hope we have an indian summer!
