multiple executors
Comments

Any comments anybody please? It's been distressing all this so I need a resolution. It may be that a solicitor is the next step but this is an uncomfortable (maybe impossible course of action) as I do not think the deceased would have wanted things to come to this.0

sorry dannie, but that may be why the deceased chose to have multiple executors? so that no one person was in charge?
be that as it may you now have to deal with the situation as it is. if you HAVENT renounced your postition as executor then you have a perfect right to ask for an accounting of what has been done, any monies recieved disbursements paid debts paid etc - up to date. if this isnt forthcoming then maybe a solicitor would be the next step.0

Thanks meritaten, maybe one final request is needed for an update and then if no response I have to consider being realistic rather than clinging on to what is in the deceased "interests"; a difficult transition.
How much time have I before it would be too late to receive solicitor input?0

the time factor varies on so many things dannie. I suggest you go on direct.gov and look up probate. the answer may well be on there.
so much depends on how straightforward the will was, whether there was property involved (and the slump in the property market has affected this - its delayed my aunts estate for months as the house just will not sell). so many factors can affect it. but, as co-executor you DO have the right to be kept up to date.0

Thanks meritaten for your time. I'll follow things up tomorrow.
I was given updates voluntarily up to a certain point but now there has been a huge gap. It is helpful to me that you point out that I do have a "right" to be updated. Thanks again.0

Thanks all who considered my post. Your input may have helped. A further request for an update meant I did (eventually) receive a response from the executor.0

thanks dannie for the update - I hope you are satisfied with the response!0

Generally, the executor did address the points made in my letter satisfactorily and has seemed meticulous in sorting out the will. However, the time lapse was most distressing.
 Thanks again.0

There can be long time gaps when nothing much is happening and therefore nothing extra to say to you.
Glad it turned out OK in the end0

Well, still this story continues. Briefly, another request to be informed that the executor duties are at last complete. As time elapses, I presume another long period of waiting before I have to request again. I've treated this executor with decency and just want to know all the duties are complete. Two reasons - to feel I have done "my job" as requested by the deceased but also that I cannot seem to "move on" with my own life which is another story. Continue to be very unwell in myself and affecting the only person left in my life now. Anyway, I would be interested to hear how anybody would word their final letter in this situation.0
