Mine was around £1,200 in the end including VAT. No stamp duty either, and it was a leasehold property. That did include £160 because I exchanged and completed on the same day and there was a charge for reducing time between to less than a couple of weeks.0

Dont know if someone's already suggested this, but mine came to £570 for everything (no stamp duty house less that £100,000)
I searched online and through CMS found Morton Solicitors, their fee's are £260 inc VAT or somrthing like that. So far I've had regular email updates of where they're up to, and I'm pretty happy, since the one I was originally going to use quoted £938 for the same service.0 -
Cost sounds about right, stamp duty is a killer I'm just about to fork out £10k in stamp   its costing near on £16.5k for me to sell and buy, not a fancy place by any means just stupied London prices.
Look out for small print in solicitors terms and conditions, mine reserves the right to charge an additional £177 if I wish to complete earlier than within 2 weeks of exchange
