Help - Legal stuff around 'payment in Leiu on Notice'

Hi there,
I've just taken voluntary redundancy (company moved office and couldn't relocate) and got a letter stating my redundancy pay, and then 'payment in leiu of notice'. Now, I understand what that is for, but I've agreed to work up until they move office (another 5 weeks or so) and so assumed I wouldn't recieve the additional pay. A colleague thinks I will recieve it as well as my normal salary for the next 5 weeks. Where do I stand? I don't know the legal stand point on this and need to start planning based on how much of a pay out I will be getting!
thanks very much,
Kate

Does the letter state the date on which your employment terminates?
And can you confirm the last day you will be working normally (i.e. the date that falls in approx 5 weeks time)?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
The termination date in the letter is important as DFC says.
If this is the day before the move then you should be paid out your notice in full at/just after this date. If it is prior to this you may have inadvertently just agreed to work for free as the money for your notice period was to be yours whether you were in work or not by the sounds of it.....
If you are worried it is the latter then a chat to management HR is in order I reckon - you may be able to renegotiate your PILON to start from the last day before the moveGo round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
If your letter clearly states payment in lieu of notice then you should receive that on top of the wages you will get for the next 5 weeks or so that you are helping out the business.
It could be that a letter to HR or your manager stating that you will support the business until the transfer as long as you will still receive your redundancy payment and PILON as outlined in your letter of xxx.0 -
Well, as it's so busy for HR, I still haven't recieved my final letter. I have my first one offering me voluntary redundancy and the projected pay out, but that's it so far. My last day will be 18/09.0

No excuse for HR not to write to you. However, in the absence of them writing to you, you write to them stating that - i the absence of the letter from HR - you would like to confirm the details of your voluntary redundancy package discussed with x as being as follows:
Redundancy payment of xxx
Payment in lieu of notice being xx weeks
In return you agreed to stay on with the Company until the closure date of x under your current terms of employment and all applicable salary, holiday accrual, bonus payments etc.
Add that you are currently owed x in holiday pay and that this will obviously increase dependent on the actual date of termination.0
