garage foundation

Hi
I'm after some advice on our garage foundations prior to going ahead with the job. We are hoping to knock down and rebuild our brick garage. Also hope to add a shed to the space behind the garage so therefore would like to extend the concrete foundation. Our thoughts are to have a new concrete slab poured over the whole area, including covering the old concrete with approx 3 inches of new concrete. We will eventually be seeking professional advice on this but im just trying to get my head around everything first. Basically i'm wondering if it is possible to cover old concrete with new? I'm not sure how thick the old concrete is but it appears to be in ok condition (no cracks or crumbling).
Thanks,
Sarah :cheesy:

re covering over old concrete, anything above 2 inches should be ok.Get some gorm.0

If you're less than 3" make sure you request a 10mm aggregate.0

If you are extending an existing slab you need to expose the side of the old slab full depth. This will let you work out how thick the old one is and also let you drill & grout some re bar into the edge of the old slab which will stop any movement between old and new0
