My Samsung TV/VCR is locked and I cant find the remote to unlock it

I hope someone can help me.
I have a portable Samsung TV/VCR which I can't use because I can't find the remote. Unfortunately one of my kids managed to put the child lock on with the remote before we lost it, ie when a button is pressed on the front, the message PANEL LOCK comes up. The TV model number is TI-14N3. Does anyone have the same TV and the instruction book or can anyone tell me if I might be able to unlock it using the buttons on the front of the TV??

You could try asking in AVForums as it's frequented by lots of knowledgeable types, including engineers from various manufacturers.

Or contacting Samsung directly by phone, you may get through to a sympathetic mother :

See bottom of page 42 for instructions on how to unlock - to do it you're going to need the remote control!

The front panel of the COMBI VISION can be locked to prevent it
from being used by young children for example.
1 To lock the front panel, display the television menu by pressing MENU
( ).
2 Select the SETUP option by pressing the P ▲ or ▼ buttons the required
number of times.
3 Press the + button.
4 Select the PANEL LOCK option by pressing the P ▲ or ▼ buttons the
required number of times.
5 Select ON by pressing the + button.
Result: The buttons on the front panel no longer have any effect.
6 To unlock the front panel, set the PANEL LOCK option to OFF.

Another option would be to buy a universal remote from say - Argos carefully open it and use your own batteries and use that remote to unlock the TV then return the remote to Argos or if keep the remote if the original is lost.

You could try powering on the TV whilst holding in various combinations of the front panel buttons. eg Hold in P+ & P- and then plug it in / switch it on.

I know many makes/models use this type of operation to enter engineering/service mode and/or reset functions
